Akashi 61% reserved pre-launch
Interest in the Astana-based Akashi data center has exceeded expectations. Clients have reserved 61% of design capacity (3.18 MW) before the first module goes live.
Interest in Akashi has outpaced every forecast. Before the first module comes online, clients have already reserved 61% of the first-phase design capacity — equivalent to 3.18 MW of IT load.
Anchor tenants
Reservations include strategic anchor tenants across telecom (China Mobile International), virtualization (Virtuozzo), and cybersecurity (Fortinet), along with domestic enterprises and at least two government-related workloads. The mix signals that Akashi will serve as both a regional connectivity hub and a sovereign-workload anchor for Kazakhstan.
What 3.18 MW means
Equivalent to roughly 318 racks at 10 kW each, or 159 high-density AI racks at 20 kW. Akashi’s full first-phase capacity is 5.2 MW; reaching 61% reservation pre-commissioning is unusually strong for any new DC build globally.
